About Bangladeshi Taka (BDT)
The Bangladeshi Taka is the official currency of Bangladesh. There are minted coins in 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 poisha as well as 1, 2, and 5 taka. The 1,5,10,25, and 50 poisha coins are not common with the 1 and 5 poisha coins the most rare. Most everyday transactions use the 1, 2, and 5 taka coins. There are 2, 5, 40, 100, 500, and 1000 taka banknotes in official circulation. These most recent notes in circulation were issued in 2011.
